(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk – An eight-month investigation into narcotics activity in Dunkirk culminated in a significant raid and arrests early Friday morning.
In the early hours of June 28, 2024, a coordinated effort by narcotics investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and Jamestown Police Department resulted in a raid at 91 Lincoln Ave, Dunkirk. The operation, carried out at 5:40 AM, led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of narcotics and paraphernalia.
The primary targets of the search warrant were Alberta M. Maxwell-Battle, 42, of Dunkirk, and Charles Collins, 45, of Rochester. Both were found in possession of 8.31 grams of crack cocaine, along with scales, packaging materials for narcotics distribution, and a quantity of U.S. currency. Maxwell-Battle faced charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd. Additionally, she had an outstanding arrest warrant for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd. Collins was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd.
A third individual, Jamel S. Hall, 24, of Dunkirk, was also arrested during the raid and charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd. All three suspects were transported to Dunkirk City Court for arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, Maxwell-Battle, Collins, and Hall are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
