(WNY News Now) – Pomfret – A late-night motor vehicle accident on Concord Road in Pomfret led to the arrest of a Dunkirk man on felony DWI and multiple other charges.
On July 4, 2024, at approximately 10:27 PM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Concord Road in the Town of Pomfret. The incident quickly escalated into a significant law enforcement event involving the Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Police Department K9 unit.
Upon arrival, the Sheriff’s deputies, with the assistance of JPD K9, located the operator of the vehicle, identified as 63-year-old Christopher J. Ley from Dunkirk, NY, a short distance off the roadway. Further investigation revealed that Ley had allegedly been driving while intoxicated.
Ley was arrested and charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Unlicensed Operator, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, and Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
Ley is scheduled to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date to answer for these charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, Ley is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
