(WNY News Now) – Cattaraugus – A routine traffic stop in Cattaraugus led to the arrest of a local man on an outstanding bench warrant, highlighting the importance of vigilance in law enforcement.

On June 29, 2024, at 7:33 PM, Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reported the arrest of Donald B. Bickford Jr., 42, of Cattaraugus, NY. The arrest occurred on Washington Street in Cattaraugus following a traffic stop that revealed Bickford Jr. had an outstanding bench warrant issued by the City of Salamanca.

Bickford Jr. was taken into custody by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and later transferred to the Salamanca City Police Department. The bench warrant, issued under CPL 530.70, was identified during the investigation into the traffic stop.

After being taken into custody, Bickford Jr. was released on his own recognizance, pending further legal proceedings in the City of Salamanca court. As are all persons accused of a crime, Bickford Jr. is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
