(WNY News Now) – Sheridan, NY – July 8, 2024 – A Chautauqua County Resource Center bus carrying eight individuals crashed into a residence on Route 5 in the Town of Sheridan early Monday morning, resulting in multiple injuries.

At approximately 7:26 AM, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of the accident. Upon investigation, it was determined that 62-year-old Kevin J. Easterly of Dunkirk, NY, lost control of the bus. The vehicle veered off the road, broke through two fences, and collided with a house.

Seven of the bus passengers sustained injuries and were transported to Brook’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. One passenger, whose injuries were more severe, was taken to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). Fortunately, no one inside the residence was harmed during the incident.

Easterly was issued traffic citations and will appear in the Town of Sheridan Court at a later date.
