(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk -United Way of Northern Chautauqua County’s 11th annual Golf Classic saw remarkable success, with 74 golfers and perfect weather.
The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County held its 11th annual Golf Classic, with the AG Team serving as the title sponsor. It was held on Monday, June 24th at Shorewood Country Club. A total of 74 golfers attended the event, with play beginning at 10 a.m.
Daniel Siracuse, the Community Relations Coordinator for the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, and Tyler Gotowka, Board President, organized the event. “It was a perfect day all around. The teams had a great time, the weather was amazing, and Shorewood was so wonderful with everything from the food to the course. We are so grateful for another successful year.”
Siracuse, who just started with the United Way two months ago, was very grateful that the tournament was able to go off without a hitch: “When I started, we basically had only six weeks to get everything together. But between all of the businesses willing to sponsor, to the teams that came out to play, it really all came together. And we could not have done it without all of the community support. This was really a team effort, both internally and externally.”
The winning team consisted of Blake Ihrig, Jon DeAngelo, Brandon Kellogg, and Shane Swan. In addition to the winning team’s prize, there were also door prizes, basket raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and games on the course.
“We really want to make it a worthwhile time for everyone attending, and give them as many chances to walk away with prizes as we can”, said Gotowka. “We love being able to hold this event every year, and we want to show our gratitude to all of the teams willing to come out and join us.”
Roughly $9500 was raised from this year’s tournament. The money raised from this tournament, as well as other United Way projects, goes toward supporting the work and mission of funding community agencies for direct and lasting impact.
