(WNY News Now) – Salamanca – A routine traffic stop in Salamanca led to the arrest of a local man on multiple charges, including driving while impaired by drugs.

On July 4, 2024, Nicholas Hyden, 23, of Salamanca, was taken into custody following a traffic stop on Center Street in Salamanca. Patrol officers observed vehicle and traffic violations, prompting them to initiate the stop.

Upon making contact with Hyden, officers conducted a Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI Drugs) investigation. As a result of the investigation, Hyden was charged with DWAI Drugs, failure to stop at a stop sign, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Hyden was processed at the scene and subsequently released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to answer these charges in the City of Salamanca Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, Hyden is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
