(WNY News Now) – Niagara Falls, NY – On July 10, 2024, at 7:00 AM, the Niagara Falls (C) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), NY0026336, reported an untreated wastewater discharge at 8098 West Rivershore, Niagara Falls, NY. The discharge, which lasted 840 minutes, affected the Little Niagara waterbody.
Due to heavy rain and system capacity issues, the plant’s lift stations were operating at full capacity. The discharge rate was estimated at 1200 gallons per minute, leading to significant environmental concerns.
No public areas were reported as impacted. However, the untreated state of the discharge raises questions about the potential long-term effects on local water quality.
