(WNY News Now) – Kennedy, NY – Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced today that Aubrey Baize, 30, of Falconer, was sentenced in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley to an indeterminate state prison term of 4 to 12 years. Baize was convicted by a Chautauqua County jury on April 25, 2024, of Arson in the Third Degree, a class C felony.
In July 2022, Baize intentionally set a fire in Kennedy, a community in the Town of Poland. The blaze destroyed two houses and caused significant damage to nearby properties. The residents of the destroyed homes lost valuable items, cherished belongings, and beloved family pets.
District Attorney Schmidt expressed gratitude to the New York State Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for their diligent work on the case. The prosecution was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Molitor and Alexander Scherer.
