(WNY News Now) – Fredonia -The Fredonia Fire Department has received a $71,094.90 grant from FEMA, announced Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23).

The substantial Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) aims to boost the Fredonia Fire Department’s emergency response capabilities. Congressman Nick Langworthy emphasized its impact on the department’s readiness and effectiveness in protecting the community.

“I’m proud to announce this substantial FEMA grant for the Fredonia Fire Department, which will greatly enhance their capabilities and readiness to respond to emergencies,” said Congressman Langworthy. “This investment will provide essential support for advanced firefighting equipment and comprehensive training programs, ensuring our first responders can protect our community effectively.”

In January, Congressman Langworthy hosted a virtual seminar with FEMA officials to assist local fire departments in navigating the grant application process.

According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.
