(WNY News Now) – Syracuse, NY – A brutal homicide in Syracuse has left the community in shock as details of the investigation unfold.
On July 15, 2024, at approximately 7:22 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to 103 Riverdale Dr., Apt. 1, for a status check. Upon arrival, they discovered Kevin Works, born March 6, 1962, suffering from apparent injuries inflicted by a cutting instrument. Despite immediate medical attention from AMR paramedics, Works was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Homicide Unit promptly launched an investigation. Detectives conducted numerous interviews, performed an extensive neighborhood and citywide canvass, executed search warrants, and meticulously processed recovered evidence.
Through these diligent efforts, Peter Boehm, born October 26, 1990, was identified as a suspect. Boehm, who is reported to be homeless, turned himself in at the Public Safety Building on July 16, 2024, around 5:30 a.m. He was subsequently lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center, awaiting arraignment.
Boehm faces charges under New York Penal Law 125.20 for Manslaughter in the First Degree and Penal Law 265.02 for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
