(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced that Bruno J. Haney, II, 35, of Niagara Falls, NY, has been sentenced to 184 months in prison for his role in leading a significant drug trafficking organization. Haney was convicted of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distributing heroin, fentanyl, and butyryl fentanyl.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who prosecuted the case, detailed that Haney’s drug trafficking activities spanned from April 2017 to March 2019. In June 2017, the Niagara County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Haney’s residence, seizing multiple bags containing butyryl fentanyl, hydrocodone, acetaminophen, alprazolam pills, $515 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.

In January 2019, Haney was arrested following a second search at a different residence, where investigators recovered fentanyl, a heroin-fentanyl mixture, marijuana, $978 in cash, and more drug paraphernalia. Despite being released on conditions prohibiting further offenses, Haney continued his illicit activities. A subsequent search in March 2019 uncovered a bag containing a heroin-fentanyl mixture, $373 in cash, and a digital scale at his residence.

The investigation and successful prosecution were the results of a coordinated effort by the Niagara County Drug Task Force, Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration, Lockport Police Department, and the District Attorneys Offices of Niagara and Orleans Counties.
