(WNY News Now) – Olean – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reported the arrest of Richard L. Knapp Jr., 35, of Belfast, NY, on July 16, 2024. Knapp was taken into custody at approximately 5:41 PM due to two active felony bench warrants issued by the Cattaraugus County Court. These warrants stem from previous arrests.
Upon his arrest, Knapp was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where he remains pending further court proceedings. The charges against him include two counts under NYS CPL 530.70-3. He is currently held without bail.
This operation was conducted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Olean Police Department. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
