(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK – The Chautauqua County 4-H Exhibition Poultry Project held  its annual show at the Chautauqua County Fair on July 16, 2024. The show consisted of 18 youth  members aged 5-18 exhibiting 43 chickens and 13 ducks. In showmanship, the youth demonstrated  their bird to APA Judge Richard Hare of Springville, NY, answering a wide range questions including parts  of the bird, specific characteristics of the breed, poultry husbandry, and poultry trivia. 

This year, we had 5 Cloverbud showman who are between the ages of 5-8 years old: Kamden Barron of  Jamestown, Colton Thompson of Fredonia, Wyatt Winton of Sinclairville, Brayden Tarnowski of  Dewittville, and Maverick Gernatt of Jamestown. 

In our Novice, or first-year showman division, Kierdan Nickerson, 14, of Clymer took top honors as  Champion and Onna Warner, 8, of Bemus Point earned the Reserve spot. In the Junior division,  experienced showmen aged 9-13, Emma Ribaudo, 13, of Falconer was named Champion while Harrison  LeBarron, 9, of Silver Creek placed in the Reserve spot.

The highly competitive Senior division, ages 14-18, was won by Caitlyn Kriner, 14, of Findley Lake, with  Everett LeBarron,15, of Silver Creek taking Reserve Senior Champion. Overall, Caitlyn Kriner was named  the Grand Champion Showman, having the highest score of the day. Kierdan Nickerson achieved the  second highest score, securing Reserve Champion Showman honors. 

In the breed show, Elizabeth Weaver’s Old English Game Bantam, “Kara”, won Best in Show. Reserve  Best in show went to Caitlyn Kriner’s Welch Harlequin Duck, “Sara.”
