(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown led to the arrest of a local man on serious charges, including illegal firearm possession and drug violations.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 9:28 PM, officers with the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Camp Street and May Street due to a traffic infraction. During the stop, officers noticed drug paraphernalia in plain sight within the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that Daniel J. Hallowell, a 40-year-old Jamestown resident, was allegedly in possession of a loaded semi-automatic pistol and methamphetamine. Hallowell did not possess a valid pistol permit, leading to his arrest on charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Hallowell is currently held at the Jamestown City Jail, awaiting arraignment.
