(WNY News Now) -Jamestown, NY – A 25-year-old Jamestown resident is facing a slew of serious charges after a violent incident on the city’s east side and a dramatic escape attempt later in the day.

At approximately 7:24 AM on July 25, officers from the first platoon were dispatched to assist Parole at an east side residence where they encountered a stabbing victim. The investigation revealed that Robert BD Brinkley had allegedly violently attacked the victim, inflicting multiple severe lacerations to the head. The injured party was promptly transported to UPMC for treatment.

Later in the day, at around 12:49 PM, officers conducted a warrant check at a residence on the north side of Jamestown and found Brinkley inside. As officers attempted to escort him to the city jail, Brinkley fled on foot, leading to a brief pursuit. He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Brinkley is currently held at the Jamestown City Jail and is pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. The charges against him include Assault 1st, Burglary 1st, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, and Escape 1st.
