(WNY News Now) – GERRY – Saddle up for an unforgettable experience at the 79th Annual Gerry Fire Department’s PRCA Rodeo, set to kick off on Wednesday, July 31, and run through Saturday, August 3. Held rain or shine, this event promises high-octane excitement with over 200 professional cowboys and cowgirls vying for $50,000 in prize money each night.

The rodeo features eight exhilarating events nightly, including bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, and bull riding. Cowgirls will showcase their skills in barrel racing and breakaway roping. Announcer Greg Simas will guide the action from atop his trusty steed, Elvis, while Brinson James and his trick dog, Reride, provide comic relief between events.

Before the rodeo each evening, guests can savor the event’s renowned beef barbecue dinners from 5-8 PM. This meal includes beef slow-cooked over wood for eight hours, paired with a secret recipe sauce, kettle-browned potatoes, salad, corn, cottage cheese, ice cream, and a drink – all enjoyed in the comfort of an air-conditioned dining room.

The midway opens daily at 8 PM, featuring more than 20 vendors offering everything from Western apparel to sweet treats like cotton candy and fried dough.
