(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – An 18-year-old male was wounded in a shooting on South Alvord Street, prompting a police investigation and a call for public assistance.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at approximately 9:44 p.m., Syracuse Police officers responded to a reported shooting on the 100 block of South Alvord Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an 18-year-old male with gunshot wounds to his leg.

The victim was promptly transported to University Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. According to medical personnel, the young man is expected to survive his injuries.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. Those who may have witnessed the shooting or possess any relevant details are encouraged to contact the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
