(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – Eric Vangiesen, a 38-year-old resident of Jamestown, has been sentenced by Judge David Foley to 5.5 years in state prison, followed by 2 years of post-release supervision. Vangiesen’s sentence comes after his conviction for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and a Violation of Probation. The sentences will run concurrently.

In April 2023, Vangiesen was initially sentenced to a 5-year term of probation following his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. However, by September 2023, the Chautauqua County Office of Probation filed a violation of probation against him for failing to comply with multiple terms of his probation.

While being prosecuted for the probation violation, Vangiesen faced new charges. In April 2024, he was indicted and arraigned on a charge of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, a class A-II felony. By June 2024, Vangiesen pled guilty to the lesser charge of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, along with the Violation of Probation.
