(WNY News Now) – Lockport – Martice D. Porter, 22, faces up to 4 years in prison and mandatory sex offender registration after pleading guilty to third-degree rape.
On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced the guilty plea of Martice D. Porter, 22, of Niagara Falls, to the crime of Rape in the Third Degree. Porter admitted in County Court to engaging in sexual intercourse with an underage female in 2023.
District Attorney Seaman expressed regret over the incident, highlighting the seriousness of the crime committed by someone expected to abide by the law. “It is an unfortunate and regrettable thing when someone who is charged with upholding the law instead transgresses it. I hope that the defendant being held accountable will help the victim of this crime move forward,” Seaman stated. He also praised the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough and professional investigation.
Porter is scheduled to return to court on October 8 for sentencing by County Court Judge John Ottaviano. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to four years and will be required to register as a sex offender.
