(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk, NY – A shooting on Washington Avenue in Dunkirk has left one person injured, prompting a multi-agency investigation.
The Dunkirk Police Department is investigating a targeted shooting that occurred on August 14th, 2024, around 6:50 PM on the 300 block of Washington Avenue. One individual was struck by gunfire and was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle before being transferred to ECMC. Fortunately, the injury is not life-threatening.
The incident, believed to involve individuals who know each other, has drawn the attention of several law enforcement agencies. New York State Police, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fredonia Police Department have joined forces with Dunkirk Police, including the Detective Bureau, Crime Scene Unit, and K-9 Unit.
