(WNY News Now) – Cattaraugus County – In a coordinated effort between Cattaraugus and Erie County law enforcement, a Chaffee man was arrested on multiple charges and handed over to authorities.
On August 16, 2024, at approximately 8:25 a.m., deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Michael D. Holmes of Chaffee, NY, on multiple outstanding warrants issued by Erie County. The arrest occurred at Holmes’ residence on East County Line Road in Freedom, NY.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office had contacted Cattaraugus County deputies, suspecting that Holmes was in the area. Acting on this information, Cattaraugus County deputies located Holmes and took him into custody without incident. A custody exchange was later arranged, and Holmes was transferred to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Holmes was subsequently released on his own recognizance. Details regarding the specific charges Holmes faces were not disclosed. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
