(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A routine street check in Jamestown led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man wanted on felony warrants, who now faces additional charges of drug possession and resisting arrest.

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 6:39 p.m., Jamestown Police officers observed Edgardo C. Marquez, 38, in the area of Falconer Street and Liberty Street. Recognizing Marquez as a suspect with outstanding felony warrants from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, officers attempted a street check. Marquez fled on foot, prompting a brief chase before officers apprehended him.

Upon searching Marquez, police allegedly discovered quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, along with a digital scale bearing drug residue. As a result, Marquez was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, and Resisting Arrest, in addition to the outstanding felony warrant.

Marquez was transported to Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
