(WNY News Now) – Hinsdale – A Pennsylvania man faces charges of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs after deputies in Hinsdale, New York, stopped him for almost colliding with another vehicle.

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 7:59 PM, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on RT 16 in the Town of Hinsdale after a vehicle crossed the center line, narrowly missing an oncoming car. The driver, 34-year-old Zackary J. Crawford of Pennsylvania, exhibited signs of impairment during the investigation, leading to his arrest.

Crawford was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI Drugs) under VTL 11924, Failure to Use Designated Lane (VTL 1128C), and Driver’s View Obstructed (VTL 1213A). He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hinsdale Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
