(WNY News Now) – Lakewood – On August 20, 2024, at approximately 3:28 PM, a structure fire was reported at 135 W. Summit Ave in the Village of Lakewood, prompting an immediate response from the Lakewood Fire Department. Firefighters from Ashville, Busti, and Celoron Fire Departments also joined the effort to extinguish the flames.
After the fire was successfully put out, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called in to determine the fire’s origin and cause. The investigation revealed that the blaze originated in the home’s laundry room due to a clogged dryer vent.
No injuries were reported, but the incident serves as a crucial reminder for homeowners to regularly inspect and clean their dryer vents to prevent similar accidents.
