(WNY News Now) – Cassadaga – A routine evening turned into an arrest for a Cassadaga man after a crash on Route 60 led to DWI charges.
On the evening of August 22, 2024, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 60 in the Village of Cassadaga. The incident, which occurred around 6:18 p.m., involved multiple vehicles, though no injuries were reported.
One of the drivers involved was identified as 61-year-old Richard A. Dascenzo of Cassadaga. Upon investigation, deputies determined that Dascenzo had been driving while intoxicated. Additionally, he was found to be following another vehicle too closely, contributing to the collision.
Dascenzo was taken into custody at the scene and later transported to a Sheriff’s Office substation for further processing. He was subsequently released with citations for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and following too closely. Dascenzo is scheduled to appear in the Town of Stockton Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
