(WNY News Now) – Syracuse, N.Y. – A violent night on Syracuse’s Westmoreland Avenue has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy, leaving a community shaken and authorities urgently seeking answers.
A homicide investigation is underway following the death of 15-year-old Deron McGee, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting on Westmoreland Avenue. McGee was critically injured on the night of August 12th and was taken to Upstate University Hospital by a private vehicle. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, McGee did not survive.
Initial investigations revealed the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Westmoreland Avenue, near the intersection with East Fayette Street. The exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, prompting an active investigation by the Syracuse Police Department.
