(WNY News Now) – Loudonville, N.Y. – Loudonville gears up to host the highly anticipated 40th New York State Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Schuyler Meadows Club, drawing top amateur golfers from across the state.
The New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) has officially accepted 437 entries for the 40th NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, set to take place at Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville, NY, from September 27-29, 2024. This prestigious event will feature top amateur golfers aged 25 and older, all competing for the coveted title.
To qualify for this championship, players must have a Handicap Index of 10.4 or less and be members of the NYSGA. The tournament has drawn a competitive field, with sectional qualifying rounds scheduled at nine locations across New York, including Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, and Long Island. The sectional qualifiers will determine who advances to the final championship rounds.
The Schuyler Meadows Club, a renowned course designed by the legendary Devereux Emmet, will once again host this major event. Known for its challenging layout and rich history, Schuyler Meadows has previously hosted multiple NYSGA championships, solidifying its status as a premier golfing destination in New York.
Among the 2024 participants are past champions and top finishers from recent years, including Billy Hanes, Carl Schimenti, and Ken Riter. The final field will also include exempt players who have earned their spot through outstanding performances in various regional and national competitions.
