(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A late-night well-being check escalated into a foot pursuit and multiple felony charges for a Jamestown resident who jumped out of a second-story window to evade police.
On the evening of August 27, 2024, at approximately 8:05 PM, Jamestown Police responded to a west side residence for a well-being check on two juveniles. Upon arrival, officers discovered Abigail L. Thompson, 22, inside the apartment, where she was prohibited from being due to a full stay-away order of protection.
The protection order covered the two juveniles and their father, all of whom were present at the location. As officers attempted to make contact with Thompson, she fled the apartment by jumping out of a second-story window.
Over an hour later, at 9:10 PM, officers received a report of a suspicious individual in the same area. Responding officers identified Thompson on the side of the road. She attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Thompson was charged with three counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony, due to her prior convictions of second-degree criminal contempt. She also faces two counts of resisting arrest. Thompson is currently being held at the Jamestown City Jail, pending her arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
