(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – Curtis Snyder faces up to 20 years in prison for his role in distributing heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, contributing to Jamestown’s drug crisis.

Curtis Snyder, 51, of Jamestown, NY, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. The charges, which carry a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine, were announced by U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross.

Snyder was a key associate of Rocco Beardsley, a known dealer of large quantities of controlled substances in the Jamestown area. Prosecutors detailed how Snyder played a role in a cover-up attempt following a fatal overdose on April 9, 2019, involving an individual referred to as J.A. A month after the overdose, Beardsley instructed Snyder to coerce a video statement from another individual to absolve him of involvement in J.A.’s death. Snyder’s payment for this act was a bundle of heroin and fentanyl.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations. The investigation was led by the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Sentencing for Snyder is scheduled for January 9, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
