(WNY News Now) – Fredonia – A disorderly conduct call at a Fredonia gas station led to the arrest of a Dunkirk man for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and additional charges.

In the early hours of September 7, 2024, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies were dispatched to the Country Fair convenience store in Fredonia for a report of a disorderly male refusing to leave the premises. Upon arrival, deputies identified the suspect as 35-year-old Moises Hernandez-Lopez of Dunkirk, NY.

After removing Hernandez-Lopez from the store, deputies conducted an investigation and determined that he had driven to the store while under the influence of alcohol. Further checks revealed that Hernandez-Lopez was operating an unregistered motor vehicle and had failed to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) of an address change, both additional violations.

Hernandez-Lopez was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to notify the DMV of an address change. After processing, he was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pomfret court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
