(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua – A Clymer man faces DWI charges after a late-night crash on Rt 430 in the Town of Chautauqua.

In the early hours of September 1, 2024, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Rt 430 in the Town of Chautauqua. The incident occurred at approximately 2:12 AM and involved a single vehicle operated by 30-year-old Nicholas J. Alday of Clymer, NY.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Alday had moved from his lane unsafely, leading to the crash. Alday was promptly transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Subsequent investigation revealed that Alday was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Alday was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Moving From Lane Unsafely. He is scheduled to appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
