(WNY News Now) – Ellicott – Robbie M. Stearns, 29, of Frewsburg, was arrested on August 24, 2024, and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree following an incident at a store in West Ellicott.

The Town of Ellicott Police responded to a reported shoplifting case, where it is alleged Stearns attempted to steal items from the store. During the investigation, officers searched Stearns and discovered a stolen debit card in his possession. The debit card had previously been reported stolen, elevating the incident to a more serious charge.

Stearns was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott court at a later date to face the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
