(WNY News Now) – Portland – A Jamestown resident faces multiple charges after a late-night accident in the Town of Portland.

On August 29, 2024, at approximately 9:07 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bliss Road in the Town of Portland. The driver involved in the crash was identified as 31-year-old Allison L. Smith of Jamestown, NY.

Upon investigation, deputies determined that Smith was operating her vehicle while intoxicated. As a result, she was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and Moved From Lane Unsafely. These charges indicate both general impairment and a specific blood alcohol content level above the legal limit.

Smith is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portland Court at a later date to answer the charges against her. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
