(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – WNY News Now had an interview on Friday with Alyssa Wright, a Falconer native and familiar face, who is currently vying for victory in the “Face of Horror” competition.
Alyssa Wright has her sights set on claiming the crown for this year’s “Face of Horror” competition. Contestants are put into one of hundreds of brackets, where they face off elimination style in a contest to see who can garner the most support. The winner will receive a cash prize of $13,000, as well as the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fly out to California and join Kane Hodder, best known as Jason from the Friday The 13th film franchise, for a paranormal investigation and photoshoot for Rue Morgue magazine.
Wright talked about her life-long fascination with the macabre, noting that instead of having a “goth phase” like many others, she instead underwent a “normie phase”, before returning to her alternative roots. She was kind enough to provide us with some photos and video showcasing her aesthetic throughout the years.

Wright, who goes by the screen name @BlackDelia, is currently first in her bracket, which is set to eliminate all but the top 20 on September 12th. To support her for the competition, voters can go to her entry page to cast their votes. Users are granted one free vote per day, and can purchase additional votes by donating. One vote is granted per dollar donated, and the proceeds go to support Starlight Children’s Foundation, which aims to make the horrors of childhood hospital stays a little less scary by providing patients and their families with virtual reality experiences, fun hospital wear, and games. Please note that in order to vote, you must have a valid Facebook account.
Following the eliminations on September 12th, the remaining herd will be continually thinned out, until only the victors of each bracket remain to face off against one another. However, it would not be a true paranormal competition if all of the defeated remained at rest. After the finalists face off, the runner-ups from each bracket will re-enter the fray in an aptly-named “Ressurection Round”.
The contest is set to end in early November, meaning that Alyssa will have a very exciting two months ahead of her. Make sure to vote to keep Alyssa in the running, as we hope to send one of our own across the country for a victory lap.
