(WNY News Now) – Olean – A months-long investigation into a February burglary in Olean has led to the arrest of a Hinsdale man on multiple felony charges.

30-year-old Richard I. Fancher Jr. of Hinsdale, NY, has been arrested on an indictment warrant stemming from a burglary incident that occurred earlier this year. Fancher was taken into custody on September 6, 2024, at approximately 9:19 a.m., at the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office located at 1 Leo Moss Drive in Olean.

The charges against Fancher include burglary in the third degree, possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, and criminal mischief in the third degree. The incident dates back to February 6, 2024, when Fancher allegedly broke into a property and stole items of significant value.

Following his arrest, Fancher was arraigned in Cattaraugus County Court before Judge Dicerbo. Despite the serious charges, Fancher was released on his own recognizance pending future court proceedings. Fancher is expected to return to court as the case progresses. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
