(WNY News Now) – Cattaraugus – A routine traffic stop in the Village of Cattaraugus led to the arrest of a Stockton man on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
On September 8, 2024, at approximately 9:29 PM, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Thomas H. Osterhout III of Stockton, NY, following a traffic stop on N. Main Street in the Village of Cattaraugus, Town of New Albion.
The incident occurred after deputies noticed Osterhout’s vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway, with Osterhout slumped over the wheel. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies conducted a welfare check and discovered signs of intoxication. After further investigation, it was determined that Osterhout was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Osterhout was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, and parking on a public highway. He was later released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Albion Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
