(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — Felix Calderon-Valcarcel, 34, of Buffalo, has been sentenced to 87 months in prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation. U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handed down the sentence after Calderon-Valcarcel was convicted on charges of conspiring to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine and possessing firearms in connection with drug trafficking.

From May 2018 to February 2019, Calderon-Valcarcel was linked to a series of controlled drug purchases and seizures. Law enforcement discovered approximately 8.5 kilograms of cocaine and $52,000 in cash sent through postal parcels from Puerto Rico to various locations including Western New York, Florida, Alaska, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, investigators tracked $55,700 in currency and money orders sent from Calderon-Valcarcel to Puerto Rico as payment for the cocaine supply.

A search warrant executed in March 2019 at Calderon-Valcarcel’s residence and vehicle led to the seizure of $10,000 in cash, five kilograms of cocaine, and a 9mm firearm.

The case involved multiple agencies including the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, ATF, DEA, and local police departments.
