(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Terrance Johnson, 22, of Buffalo, has pleaded guilty to all charges in connection with a fatal shooting on New Year’s Day. In a court appearance before Erie County Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes, Johnson admitted to one count of Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. This plea comes ahead of a scheduled jury trial next month.

On January 1, 2024, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Johnson discharged an illegal firearm at the intersection of Main and Merrimac streets in Buffalo. The shooting resulted in the death of 18-year-old Rashaad Brown, who was rushed to ECMC but could not be saved. The second victim escaped without injury.

Johnson faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on November 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. He remains in custody without bail.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane praised Buffalo Police Detectives Christopher Sterlace and Joseph Ruggerio for their pivotal role in the investigation. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Justin H. Caldwell and Rebecca L. Schnirel from the Homicide Bureau.
