(WNY News Now) – Portville – A routine domestic investigation escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the arrest of a Portville man for obstruction and resisting arrest.

On September 9, 2024, at approximately 10:06 AM, officers from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident at 52 Temple Street in Portville, NY. During the investigation, 33-year-old Dylan M. Prescott of Portville interfered with the police, leading to his arrest on multiple charges.

According to Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb, Prescott resisted arrest, allegedly shoving a Deputy Sheriff during the confrontation. His actions resulted in charges of harassment, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Prescott was taken into custody and later arraigned. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Portville Village Court at a later date.

Authorities were assisted at the scene by additional officers, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
