(WNY News Now) – Mayville – A Mayville man faces driving while intoxicated charges after fleeing the scene of a reported accident early Friday morning.

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 2:01 a.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle involved in an accident that had left the scene. The incident occurred at 13 Water Street in the Village of Mayville.

Authorities later located the suspect vehicle at a different location and identified the operator as 32-year-old Daniel S. Taylor from Ripley, NY. Upon further investigation, Taylor was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Taylor was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to face these charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
