(WNY News Now) – Gerry – A motorcyclist’s fall led to an aggravated DWI arrest after deputies discovered his high blood alcohol level during a wellness check.
On the morning of September 13, 2024, at approximately 8:12 AM, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding a motorcyclist who had fallen at the intersection of Gerry Levant Road and Route 60. The operator, identified as 54-year-old Reid L. Johnson from Kennedy, NY, was found at the scene.
Fortunately, Johnson was uninjured, but upon further investigation, deputies determined that he had been riding his motorcycle under the influence of alcohol. Johnson’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was tested and registered at .18% or higher, well above the legal limit.
As a result, Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (DWI) and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gerry Court to address the charges.
No other individuals were involved in the incident, and authorities did not report any damage or injuries aside from Johnson’s impaired state.
