(WNY News Now) – Sherman – A 22-year-old from Orwell, Ohio, faces multiple charges, including DWI, after a traffic stop revealed he was intoxicated and involved in littering on Route 430 in Sherman.

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 3:57 AM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 430 in the Town of Sherman. The driver, identified as Mahlon N. Detweiler, 22, from Orwell, Ohio, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

During the investigation, deputies also discovered that Detweiler had thrown refuse onto the highway. As a result, Detweiler was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and Throwing/Depositing Refuse on a Highway. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sherman Court to answer to these charges at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
