(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk, N.Y. – Dunkirk Police have apprehended a suspect in an early morning assault at the City Marina, where a victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a stabbing incident.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 6:40 AM, Dunkirk Police responded to a report of an alleged assault near the City Marina on Central Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered a victim who had been injured in what appeared to be a stabbing. The victim was promptly transported to Erie County Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The suspect, identified as Sean P. Korzenski, 31, of Dunkirk, New York, was found nearby and taken into custody shortly after the incident. A warrant was issued charging Korzenski with second-degree assault under New York Penal Law 120.05(2), a class D felony. In addition to the assault charge, Korzenski faces a charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon under Penal Law 265.01(2).

Korzenski is currently held pending arraignment in Dunkirk City Court. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain under investigation.

Authorities have not released any further details regarding the motive behind the attack, and no additional suspects are believed to be involved.
