(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown on September 16th led to the discovery of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.

On Monday evening, September 16th, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon were patrolling the area of Washington Street and Forest Avenue. During their patrol, officers spotted Casey L. Haberberger, a 50-year-old male, operating a vehicle. Due to prior knowledge that Casey did not have a valid driver’s license in New York State, officers initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually came to a halt in the parking lot of a business located on Prospect Street.

Inside the vehicle, police identified two additional occupants: 50-year-old Tracey M. Haberberger and 30-year-old Steven D. Schrecengost. During the stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view within the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, each located in the respective possessions of the three occupants. Additionally, officers found packaging materials and digital scales, which had residue on their surfaces, indicating possible drug distribution activity.

Casey L. Haberberger was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and issued traffic tickets for driving without a valid license. Tracey M. Haberberger faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th degrees, as well as two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd. Steven D. Schrecengost was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, 4th, and 7th degrees, along with one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd.

All three individuals were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. They are currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
