(WNY News Now) – Buffalo – A Niagara Falls man has pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured near the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport earlier this year. Travis Rosario, 51, admitted to one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Injury, a Class “E” felony, during a court appearance before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case.

The hit-and-run incident occurred on February 27, 2024, around 4:56 a.m. Rosario was driving on Luiz Kahl Way in Cheektowaga, near Genesee Street, when he struck a 44-year-old pedestrian. The victim, from Williamsville, suffered significant injuries, including a head injury and multiple fractures. Rather than stopping or reporting the hit-and-run, Rosario fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he received treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, law enforcement officials, including the NFTA Police Department and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, quickly launched an investigation that ultimately led to Rosario’s arrest.

Rosario’s guilty plea to the highest charge ensures he faces up to four years in prison when sentenced on December 19, 2024. He remains free on his own recognizance until sentencing.

Assistant District Attorney Christopher M. McCarthy of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau prosecuted the case. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane commended law enforcement for their thorough investigation, which played a key role in bringing Rosario to justice after the hit-and-run.
