(WNY News Now) – Salamanca – A routine traffic stop in Ellicottville led to the discovery of a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl, resulting in the arrest of a Salamanca man.
On September 9, 2024, the Ellicottville Police Department arrested 50-year-old Thomas Previglian of Salamanca, New York, during a traffic stop that escalated into a drug investigation. Officers found Previglian in possession of more than 80 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with various drug paraphernalia.
Previglian was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, an A Misdemeanor. Additionally, he received a traffic violation.
After his arraignment in the Town of Ellicottville Court, Previglian was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to address the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Ellicottville Police Department acknowledged the assistance of Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Deputies during the traffic stop and investigation.
