(WNY News Now) – Pomfret – A late-night traffic stop on Route 60 in the Town of Pomfret led to the arrest of a Jamestown teen for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
On September 20, 2024, around 11:26 PM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Route 60 in the Town of Pomfret. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Anthony V. Rivera of Jamestown, NY, was found to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Upon further investigation, deputies charged Rivera with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), speeding in a zone, and resisting arrest. Details of the incident reveal that Rivera attempted to resist officers during the arrest process, resulting in additional charges.
Rivera was processed by authorities and will face his charges in Pomfret Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
