(WNY News Now) – Lockport – A Niagara Falls man has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of 38-year-old Lauren Hayes in a February 2023 hotel room attack.
Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Brian Wallace, 37, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced to 20 years to life in state prison for the murder of Lauren Hayes. Wallace, who had previously pled guilty to second-degree murder, admitted to killing Hayes, aged 38, inside a Niagara Falls motel room on February 21, 2023.
The sentencing, delivered by County Court Judge John Ottaviano, reflects the gravity of the crime. “Ms. Hayes’ life came to a terrible and tragic end at the hands of this defendant in that motel room. This crime is certainly deserving of the sentence handed down by the court,” said District Attorney Seaman.
The case was thoroughly investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department. Prosecutors, led by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney David DeChellis, secured Wallace’s guilty plea, culminating in today’s sentencing.
Wallace will serve a minimum of 20 years before he is eligible for parole, with the potential for a life sentence.
