(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A 24-year-old Jamestown resident faces new charges after allegedly disregarding a protective order during a traffic stop.
On September 18 at approximately 3:49 PM, Jacob Rivera Abbey, a 24-year-old man from Jamestown, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal contempt following a traffic stop conducted by officers from the Ellicott Police Department. The arrest stems from an alleged violation of a court-ordered stay-away order of protection, which prohibited him from contacting a specific individual.
During the traffic stop, officers discovered that Rivera Abbey was in violation of the order, a situation made more serious by his prior conviction for second-degree criminal contempt.
Rivera Abbey was taken into custody without incident and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott court to answer to the charges at a later date.
