(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown led to the arrest of a Buffalo resident on drug possession charges early Thursday morning.

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 1:54 AM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North Main Street and East 7th Street. The stop was initiated due to observed traffic and equipment violations.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the driver, Fareed J. Ali, a 27-year-old resident of Buffalo, was in possession of a substantial quantity of controlled substances. These included methamphetamine, codeine, and tramadol, all classified under New York State law as controlled substances.

Ali was taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was booked on three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. He was released on an appearance ticket and awaits further legal proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
